MC Maths Tutor provides affordable and high quality online private or group tuition for GCSE and A-Level mathematics as well as other aspects of mathematics such as the UK maths challenge (UKMT).
MC Maths Tutor, known as Mr Caiger to his students, is a fully qualified teacher who has real life experience teaching the full GCSE curriculum (grade 1 – 9) as well as A-Level mathematics (pure, statistics, mechanics) in secondary schools. Working with students in schools is
invaluable to understanding how to best deliver
content to students.
In supporting students through their exams, MC
Maths Tutor has created a Youtube Channel with
hundreds of videos covering the GCSE and
A-Level syllabus. You can see for yourself what
MC Maths Tutor has to offer by scanning the QR

In terms of personal accolades, MC Maths Tutor
achieved an A* in his A-Level mathematics with 100% in several modules as well as a first-class honours in Engineering. So
whether your child needs support with developing
the basics in maths or is aiming to get the highest
grades at A-Level, you can be sure MC Maths
Tutor is up to the job!
How much does the tuition cost?
| Category | Price |
| Primary and years 7 – 9 | £25 per hour |
| GCSE (years 10 -11) | £30 per hour |
| A-Level | £40 per hour |
| Group Tuition (minimum 3 students) | £15 per hour |
How the tutoring will take place
Tuition will take place online either through
Google Meets or BitPaper. Ideally, tuition will take
place on BitPaper as this allows the student to
collaborate with the teacher on the same online
whiteboard. This is incredibly useful for seeing
any written work from the student during the
session. However, this will require the student to
have a pen pad (see image below). These can be
purchased for around £30.

There is zero expectation that parents/carers
should buy a pen pad for their child. Tuition can
still take place through Google Meets where the
student can still see exactly what I am taking
them through they just cannot collaborate on the
same slide.
Will the student get their work from each session?
Yes, the online notes from each session will be
carefully saved and placed into a Google Drive
folder where the student can access their notes at
any time. Only the student and I will be able to
see their work. Organising students work in a
systematic way is really important in making sure
we make structured progress each session. High
standards are very important to MC Maths Tutor.
Will my child receive homework?
Depending on what your child’s aim is, whether it
be GCSE exam preparation or learning basic
mathematical techniques I will set some sort of
‘homework’ unless this is not requested by the
parent/carer. This may involve something like a
GCSE student watching one of my videos on a
particular topic so we can focus our session on
looking at exam style questions on that topic. Or
perhaps setting a few questions to a student
struggling with a particular topic that I can mark
and then follow up with a student during our
session. Another example could be giving a
challenging problem for an aspiring mathematics
Olympiad student to look at that we can dissect
during our session.
Do you offer a free trial session?
Yes, the first session will be free of charge. This
is so the student and I can get to know each other
and discuss what the plan of action for them will
be. It will also be used to get them familiar with
the technology side of things so we don’t waste
time in future sessions with technological issues.
How many sessions can I book a week?
You can book as many sessions as you wish
provided there is space. I do ask that we keep the
day(s) and time consistent as this not only helps
me with arranging other appointments, but also
gives consistency to the student which is
important. You can confirm the sessions either
through telephone or email.
